DECEMBER 2023 WAS ONE FOR THE BOOKS!

Updated: Dec 30, 2023

We officially launched our new business God's Country Art and we couldn't be more amazed and blessed with how the first month went!

Bruce has been carving since the mid-1990s but it's always been something he did in his spare time. If you know us you know we don't seem to have much of that magical spare time! Over the past couple of years, Bruce and I have often sat and dreamed about doing more things together. As is often the case in marriages where both people work, it's felt like we are almost always going in different directions all week long. Then when we do get time off together we try to pack in a month's worth of fun in a couple of days. You can just imagine how that goes. So this past year we started getting serious about adjusting our priorities and making changes to start enjoying life together. That was the foundation of our dream to start the carving business. After lots of planning, some major life adjustments, and some big financial investments we went all in at the end of this year and jumped into our first legit business with Bruce and I together! And so far - YAHOO!

DECEMBER WAS AMAZING

We had friends staying at our place and they offered up lots of help and encouragement to help us get our website built and launched as well as our first official craft show and online sales. We were blessed by the wonderful reception of Bruce's amazing art! I think it was hard for him to receive it all. He's always his own worst critic and constantly strives to get better. But one thing we heard over and over was how much people truly loved his art! Whether it was the driftwood owls, the huge standing bears, or something in between, people have just poured on the compliments. It's great to see others telling him what I've known all along - He's an amazingly talented artist!

WHAT'S NEXT

Well, the craft shows are over and Christmas has come and gone. It has been an amazing season for us! Now we can slow down just a bit (although we still have orders to fill) and take on some unique pieces that we have some ideas for, as well as continue with our custom orders. Bruce has lots of carving to continue with and is headed to the wood shop as we speak to start on some new bears.

This week I will be starting some driftwood centerpieces that will be infused with epoxy to accentuate different colors. I will post pictures of these new creations, as well as Bruces carvings as soon as they are done.

I hope to update the website often with pictures of new pieces and insights into our journeys in search of driftwood and other unique carving materials. On that note, we just returned from the Oregon Coast and we were able to salvage some interesting driftwood pieces that you will have to wait and see what they turn into. So, stay tuned!

Hope you have been having a wonderful and blessed holiday season.

Tammy
